Spotify rolls out conversational AI feature for Premium users

Spotify has begun rolling out a beta conversational feature that allows Premium subscribers to engage in back-and-forth dialogue with the app to select music and access information.

The Stockholm-based company started the gradual rollout on July 14. Eligible Premium users aged 18 and above in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden can now type or speak to the app across its Home and Now Playing screens on iOS and Android devices, in English.

The feature enables users to choose playback by asking for music, refine selections with follow-up requests, save songs, add items to queues, follow artists, and review listening history. It also answers questions about tracks, albums, artists, genres, podcasts, and audiobooks.

For example, users can request artists they have not heard before, then add specific performers such as Bad Bunny or request a more upbeat selection. In the Now Playing view, they can ask about the inspiration behind
