Akwa Ibom State is fast becoming one of Nigeria’s most attractive destinations for large-scale industrial investment. Under Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, the state has positioned itself as a hub for petrochemicals, refining, fertilizer production, agriculture, and maritime infrastructure.
The goal is clear: add value to local resources, create jobs, and retain wealth within the state.
Foreign and domestic investors have committed an estimated $10 billion to $15 billion to the Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone in Akwa Ibom State.
The zone, regulated by the federal Oil & Gas Free Zone Authority, OGFZA, has quickly become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing industrial hubs.
In its early phases alone, it attracted over $1 billion in Foreign Direct Investment. Core projects already lined up include a $1.4 billion ammonia plant, a methanol plant, and multiple proposals for refineries, petrochemicals, and fertilizer facilities spread across five major sites within the zone.
