From childhood, we’ve heard the same warning from preachers, teachers, parents, and elders: “Vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” The phrase echoes through our lives so often that we hardly stop to question what it truly means. Ironically, it is usually during our darkest moments, when pain, panic, and disappointment overwhelm us, that those words seem to comfort us enough to let go.
