Williams rues missed chances after Bafana exit

South Africa captain Ronwen Williams has blamed Bafana Bafana’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal for their exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Canada in Los Angeles, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Stephen Eustáquio struck deep into stoppage time to hand Canada victory in the Round of 32, ending South Africa’s historic campaign in what was their first-ever World Cup knockout match.

Despite an encouraging run to the knockout stage, Hugo Broos’ side managed just two goals in four matches, with only one coming from open play.

“The most important thing to take out is how clinical they are,” Williams said via ESPN.

“When I look through the tournament, the amount of chances we created, and we only managed to score two goals, so we need to be better.
