1. Armed men suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Augustine O. Ikwue, including the mourners accompanying him to his hometown at Otukpo in Benue state. The vehicle conveying the corpse ran into ambush along Ochadamu-Ejule road in Ofu local government of Kogi state around 6pm, on Thursday.
2. Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke, has explained that the selection of Hajja Bintu Konto as his running mate for the 2027 election was driven solely by competence and national interest. In a statement issued in Abuja, on Saturday Okereke described Konto’s nomination, ratified by the party’s leadership, as “another defining moment” in the party’s push for a “Nigerians First” government.
3. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, in the company of a senior medical officer in the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Moses Azuoru, on Saturday, visited the rescued Oriire kidnap victims at the 2nd Division medical centre where they have been receiving treatment after their release.

Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including four traditional chiefs and an 80-year-old man, over the gruesome murder of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Benue State chapter, Ardo Risku Mohammad, and one Yakubu Isa in Otukpo Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.
